The website proprietor and maintenance group is the Sciso.org Board (also named Website Affairs Commission) and the sponsor is the Sciso.org Fund with all its members from research institutions and universities.

Sciso.org, as one of the Chinese academic media, is the main charter member of the to-be-established China International Studies Websites Alliance (CISWA), a union of leading international studies websites in China.

Brief History of Sciso.org

The website was formally launched on January 19, 2005 using the domain name ,www.nanfangsf.com/famous, which is invalid since August 30,2006.

The website was redesigned from late June to early September, 2006 and re-opened on September 11, 2006 after a short lull of operation to the public with a new domain name, www.nanfangir.com (ir, i.e., international relations ), which remains valid at present.

On March 1, 2007 it adopted the current domain name, www.sciso.org, with the purpose of integration with the international standards of non-profit websites.
