A large explosion has been heard in a high-security area of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.
Dawn News, a Pakistani TV channel, reported that the blast was in a police barracks on Thursday.
Al Jazeera's Kamal Hyder said that because the area is controlled by police it was not possible to give an exact number of casualties.
"This is a highly secure area controlled by the police forces, so we don't have the exact number of casualties," he said.
"The attack takes place as parliament goes into a question and answer session on the highly sensitive brieifing by the military chiefs."
