Afghan authorities have handed over the son of a Pakistani woman held by the US for alleged links with al-Qaeda to Pakistani officials.
Ali Hassan Siddiqui, son of Aafia Siddiqui, a US-trained neuroscientist arrested in Afghanistan in July, was returned to Pakistan on Monday.
Afghan police say they arrested Ali and his mnother outside the governor's office in Afghanistan's Ghazni province after becoming suspicious of her behaviour.
US soldiers in Afghanistan later took Siddiqui under their custody after she allegedly grabbed a US warrant officer's rifle during an interrogation session and fired at them, US officials said. |
