我们都知道英语与各国语言都是近亲，像什么拉丁语，德语，法语，西班牙语的，你可知道英语和我们中国千年的古汉语文化也着一脉相承的渊源，就连它对爱情的感悟都如出一章。汉语中我们把短语平行叫做重叠结构，英语中它会变化为词词搭配，词组相配，正因为它们有着严格的对称，整齐的排列，与我国的汉语相互辉映，也造就了这段妙不可言的爱情。\r<br>（1） 以名词为主的重复，表示时间、次数、数量等。\r<br>arm in arm 臂挽臂\r<br>例：Arm in arm the student went to schoo. 学生们挽着胳膊去上学。\r<br>back to back 背靠背\r<br>例：The two fighters stood back to back. 两位斗士背靠背地站着。\r<br>day after day 一天又一天\r<br>例：Day after day he looked forward to the coming of the PLA. 他天天盼望着解放军的到来。\r<br>from cover to cover 从头至尾
<br>例：He read the book from cover to cover. 他从头至尾看完了那本书。\r<br>face to face 面对面\r<br>例：I hadn’t seen him for years when suddenly we stood face to face.
<br>我多年没见到他了，突然我们面对面地站在了一起。\r<br>hand in hand 手拉手\r<br>例：The couple were walking hand in hand. 这对夫妇手拉手地走着。\r<br>lots and lots of 大量地\r<br>例：Lots and lots of light industrial products are sent to the countryside.

<br>例：This little boy grows talls year by year. 这个小男孩儿长得一年比一年高。\r<br>shoulder to shouler 肩并肩\r<br>例：Let’s stand shoulder to shouler. 让我们共同努力。\r<br>side by side 并肩地，并存
<br>例：It is curious to see Buddhism existing side by side with Christianity.
<br>佛教和基督教并存，看起来很奇妙。\r<br>see eye to eye 与…看法一致\r<br>例：Unfortunately he didn’t see eye to eye with his parents and there were always arguments at home.
<br>不幸的是，他和他的父母意见不一致，家里总是吵吵嚷嚷。\r<br>An eye for an eye,a tooth for a tooth以眼还眼，以牙还牙（有点像慕容复的以彼之道还之彼身）
<br>例：What he wants is an eye for an eys .他所需要的是以眼还眼。\r<br>from ear to ear 满面笑容
<br>例：“Good morning,”said Hans,smiling from ear to ear!” 您早!”汉斯满面笑容地说。\r<br>from mouth to mouth 流传
<br>例：The news of the victory spread rapidly from mouth to mouth. 胜利的消息很快就传开了。\r<br>eyeball to eyeball直接冲突（怒目相向）\r<br>例：There were two adversaries standing eyeball to eyeball. 那两个对手在那站着，怒目而视。\r<br>time after time 再三，三番五次\r<br>例：The doctor told him time after time to give up smoking 医生再三让他戒烟。\r<br>from time to time 有时，不时\r<br>例：I received her letters from time to time when I studied in the USA.

<br>例：Step by step,I came near the first building.我一步一步地走近第一座楼房。\r<br>bit by bit 一点一点\r<br>例：Bit by bit ,she closed the gap.她一点一点地缩短了差距。\r<br>（2） 以副词为主的重复，构成一个新的意思的短语或固定搭配。\r<br>again and again 反复地\r<br>例：Good books should be read again and again. 好书要一遍一遍地读。\r<br>by and by 不久
<br>例：He will come back by and by .他不久就会回来。\r<br>out and out 彻头彻尾，十足，完全
<br>例：This is out and out big-power chauvinism. 这是彻头彻尾的大国沙文主义。\r<br>through and through 彻底
<br>例：The man is roguish through and through. 这人是个彻底的无赖。\r<br>on the up and up 越来越大，越来越高\r<br>例：Business was on the up and up .生意越做越大。\r<br>over and over 反复
<br>例：He read that poem over and over.他反复读那首诗。\r<br>all and all 总之
<br>例：All in all ,there are twenty of them. 他们总共有二十人。\r<br>（3） 出现在某些动词加上其同源宾语的结构中
<br>例：She lived a happy life.她过着幸福生活。\r<br>例：He breathed his last breath. 他咽下了最后一口气。\r<br>例：As he slept, he dreamed a dream. 睡觉时，他做了一个梦。\r<br>例：They had to fight a hard fight.他们只能进行一场苦战。
