“欲望上海”不管是真是假，国人都应该反省！！！！

　　上海教授网上声讨“流氓老外”的事件有了戏剧性的变化，有人称“欲望上海”博客有可能是一个恶作剧（2006年09月02日京华时报）。在对事件的真伪还没有一个定论的情况下，我们应该静下心来想一想，老外对国人的所谓“嘲讽”有没有事实呢？我们是不是应该反省一下自己的“丑陋”呢？

　　上个世纪柏杨先生的一 部《丑陋的中国人》对国人的揭露可谓一针见血，但过了几十年国人的丑陋不但没有减退反而有愈演愈烈之势，在我们真正或者故作愤慨的声讨那位不知名的甚至是虚构的老外时我们难道不为自己感到脸红吗？

　　首先应该检讨的是那些为了金钱为了刺激而“开放”到老外床上的女性们，不管博客是真是假，这些女人却是一个客观的事实。不知从什么时候起，“身体”成了最大的本钱，“身体”成了一劳永逸的资本。即使真的“所有中国男人不能满足中国女人”，但没有“那个”你们这些人就活不了不成？为了金钱可以称之为堕落，为了“那个”该称之为什么呢？我无法用语言表达。

　　还有需要反省的就是那些喜欢“愤怒”的同胞（当然也包括我）。这么多年以来，我们除了愤怒还会干些什么呢？愤怒似乎成了我们唯一的手段，在愤怒之后我们又会恢复了往日的懒散、玩世不恭。真正的愤怒还不错，可气的是那些唯恐天下不乱的“假愤怒”们，在一旁煽风点火，添油加醋。

　　还有那些连天上只有一个月亮都弄不明白的人，难道外国的月亮就真的那么圆么？假设博客内容是假的，那么色狼外教是假的吗？那些大学的校长们自称睿智，但是色狼们披上一件外国马甲就能迷惑他们那智慧的双眼，他们难道不感到惭愧吗？

　　有一部分人似乎根本没有必要反省，因为那些人已经麻木。为了生活可以出卖自己的尊严，为了利益可以不管自己的灵魂，为了金钱可以不去考虑自己父母的母亲。他们已经不配称“丑陋”了，因为丑陋是用来形容人的。

　　如果“欲望上海”事件是事实，那么我们在愤怒的同时应该警醒，因为我们的“丑陋”；如果“欲望上海”真的是一场闹剧，那么我们更应该反省，反省我们缘何被戏弄。

http://chinabounder.blogspot.com 无意中来到上面这个名叫“欲望上海”(Sex and Shanghai) 的博客。博客的副标题是：在上海的西方恶棍的自白 （“Western Scoundrel in Shanghai Tells All”）。博主是一个网名叫Chinabound的英格兰人，现在在上海某个大学教英文（似乎是上外，但我不确定）。该博客的基本主旨是炫耀博主如何（利用外国人的身份）玩弄他班上的中国女学生的肉体和感情，顺便不时的嘲讽中国政府和中国男人的愚蠢无能。

作者的第一篇博客“White guys in China”（白种佬在中国）便开宗明义：

也许是现实生活中说了太多谎话，作者必须找到一个“说真话”的宣泄口。于是博客便成了最好的途径。他大概想，反正那些中国蠢女人看不懂的。虽然和外国人睡觉，她们的英文却很蹩脚，比如一个叫Mona的女孩，在和他作爱以后对他说：“You’re a very gentleman’  （你是一个很绅士）。” 只有一个女孩，因为听他偶尔提到自己有个博客，又怀疑他同时和许多女人交往，于是通过网络搜索到了这个博客，读到原来自己和这个外国人做爱的细节已经在网上被公之于众，并且知道了这个外国人根本不爱她。结果可想而知是自取其辱。 出于对他利用中国一些年轻女性无知和爱慕虚荣的弱点的鄙视和义愤：在离开该博客的时候写下了以下的留言：

我在上海，博科主人所说的这种年轻女孩傍外国老头的现象在上海简直普遍到了“十步一岗，五步一哨”的地步，无论是逛街，购物，看电影喝咖啡，到处都能看到。我身边认识的人中也有这样的例子。这些女孩子一个个说着半桶不同的英语，挽着老头的手，出入高档消费场所，一幅不可一世，飞上枝头变凤凰的样子。让人看了为他们担心。 虽然和什么人谈恋爱是个人的自由，很多女孩子的确动机不纯。奉劝她们应洁身自好，头脑清醒一点。不要以为以身相许就能换来绿卡或是荣华富贵。太幼稚了！外国人也不是傻子，玩腻了就把你甩掉。不仅丢了自尊，还丢了国格！

事情开始变得有点儿意思起来了。英国无赖Chinabound在他自己的博客里对我的留言进行了回复。

这斯的自欺欺人让我有点儿哭笑不得。他先否认自己看不起中国人，假惺惺地说，他的生活在这儿。他所有的朋友都是当地人，在许多方面中国是一个美好的，令人激动的国家。接着又说但是他对中国也有批评，而他并不掩饰这种批评云云。他自以为对中国四九年以后的历史知道得比我还多，并说中国总体上是一个民族主义国家，有太多的傲慢，却又缺乏真正的骄傲，一方面自称爱国，另一方面又把自己的国家当成垃圾桶，云云。为了平衡以及显得自己有忏悔精神，无赖顺便也历数了以下大英帝国过去犯下的种种罪过，然后说当然，这不是讨论主题。

话锋一转，无赖开始为自己的罪行狡辩。他说他尊重我愤怒的权利，并欣慰的看到我并没有因此就说“如果不喜欢中国就滚回老家”之类幼稚的话。他承认自己的行为算不上高尚。但否认我关于“强奸犯”的指控，说这等小事哪能算得上强奸，又振振有词的说这世上根本没有我说的“上帝仁慈”一说，上帝是虚构的，认为有上帝的人都是傲慢的和自欺欺人的。看到这里我实在忍不住笑了。想起“掩耳盗铃”的故事，一边作恶，一点念叨着：世上没有上帝，没有上帝，说有上帝的人都是自欺欺人。其实自欺欺人的是无赖自己。好像这就能让自己逃脱上帝的惩罚。

还有更绝的，该无赖要求我慎用“Sin”(罪恶)一词。他承认自己的所谓并不高尚，但是也算不上罪恶。并说真正的罪恶诸如是“你的”政//府向世人隐瞒非碘疫情，导致疫情扩散到香港，以至全球其他地方无辜者丧命云云。然后又说那其实并非“你的”政府，而是一群窃取了人民权力的骗子和暴君。

在对我进行了西方民主说教以后，无赖最后提请我注意，那篇我留言的博客所涉及的女子 - Mona - 其实完全知道自己在和谁交往。他们已经不是情人了，但仍然是好朋友，相互之间很少有秘密。又说，自己很快会找机会把这个博克的存在告诉Mona。无赖说了，我和Mona只见的关系比你想得要诚实和直接。那意思，我没欺骗她，都是她自愿的。

下午如果有找时间的话，我回去反驳他的。人不能无耻到这种地步！

I’m very sorry you feel that way. I do not think Chinese people are silly. I have never said this. I live in China. My life is here. All my friends are local people, and warm, generous, loving and giving people they are too. In many ways China is a wonderful, exciting country.

But I have criticisms of China and I do not hide them. China has many faults, not least among which is the fact most people are wholly ignorant of this country’s history. I know, without a doubt, that I am better informed about the history of China since 1949 than you are. China is an overly nationalist nation, with too much arrogance yet (and this is an interesting paradox) not enough pride. Chinese people claim to love their country, but treat it like a waste bin, for example.

I have just as many criticisms of my own country; its own forms of arrogance, its racism, and its government’s willingness to ignore the wishes of the people. And when it comes to history, my country has been one of the most corrupt and evil there is. Though today the UK is a minor player – trivial, even – in world affairs, in the past, ‘we’ created more world suffering than most other nations. As I expect you know, the UK brought extensive pain and misery to China. This is something ‘we’ have never apologized for, and barely teach in schools.

But since I am living in China, talking about my home nation is beside the point. I am here; this is what I write about.

I respect your right to be angry. In some measure that anger is justified. And I am glad to see you did not say, ‘If you do not like China, go home.’ That type of comment is simply childish.

But I’d suggest you choose your words more carefully. To call me a ‘rapist’ trivializes rape. And to talk about `god’s mercy’ is misguided. It is patently obvious there is no god. Those who believe in god are ignorant and willfully blind.

I feel you should be careful about what you call a ‘sin’; what I do is not at all respectable, but it is not really a sin. A sin, if you must use the word, would be something like the Chinese government’s decision to lie about the SARS outbreak a couple of years ago. That lie let the disease spread to Hong Kong and thence around the world. People across the globe died because ‘your’ government lied. (But of course they are not really ‘your’ government at all – they are, rather, a gang of crooks and cheats who have simply seized power and treat the Chinese people with all the arrogance and contempt of any emperor.)

In the case of this blog entry, I hope you will take the time to consider that the woman involved, Mona, knew exactly what she was getting into. She is no longer my lover, but we are very close friends, and we have few secrets. Indeed, I will probably tell her about this blog in due course. My relationship with her is more honest and straightforward than perhaps you give me credit for.

目前中国的确有很多问题，但是贵阁下缺并未指出有那些，更没有提出改善的意见。阁下只是在一旁作冷笑状态，并且不时以我们英国如何如何，我们英国如何如何自居。当然您完全可以对任何人、任何国家表示您的不屑，来显示您无以伦比的智慧和学识。但是仍然无法否认的是，拜您所赐，我对所谓的“英国绅士”有了更加清醒的认识。您在上海的所作所为显示了一个如此高贵的英国人的教养是多么得体，品德是如此的高尚，让我不禁对西方社会的自由开放的观念有了更具体的了解。

在中国，大学生找不到工作，做白领却看不见未来的艰难时候，女子见洋人就投怀送抱很平常。穷国女人嫁洋人要远多于穷国男人娶洋女。文中很清楚的写着：是个“white scoundrel”，而不是黑人。日本人在六七十年代经济起飞时也有过嫁洋人的风潮，现在日本人娶外女已多于女子外嫁了。

但问题的根子不在于经济，而是1949年后对传统道德的破坏而又不曾重建新时代的道德，而现有的教育体系又不曾将女子教得聪明些。虽然出国的目的未达成，有些吃亏，可这些女孩也未必是真的爱上了这个白人，爱的不过是他的护照。而且现在的女孩子也大都不在乎让人睡了几觉。

大家义愤填膺可以理解。

澄清一点：上海外国语大学是全国招生的重点大学，学校中的上海人是少部分，估计不到10%。

忘了给你回复。杉达学院（shanda）是郑州大学下属的一个民办独立学院，学生因受校方欺骗，交了大量的学费，毕业后以为能拿到郑州大学的文凭，但最后发现是杉达学院的文凭。校方推诿责任，学生于是发生了大规模骚*。骚*事件的照片在国际媒体上广为刊载，造成了轰动，由于国内媒体封锁，所以国内知道的人少一些。不过这不是借口，那个英国人一定程度上说对了。中国人对这种事情并不关心。否则的话大家只要查一下纽约时报就会知道。纽约时报的网站在国内并没有封锁。

人们都安于到新浪或搜狐去看新闻，因为面对事实有时真的很痛苦。在人造的中文世界里，我国英明伟大的政府永远光荣正确。中国人民永远勤劳勇敢，中国永远欣欣向荣。

楼主的问题是很沉重的，为什么我们的女孩子都想着出去，想着嫁给外国人，不管对方是否真的爱自己，还是仅仅玩弄一下就丢开。

浅的来说是贪图对方的金钱，或者出国机会，深的来说，是我们的教育除了问题，我们的社会公平机制出了问题。

如果可以出国，我不会犹豫，因为，有句话不是这样说的吗：“谁叫你不幸生在中国”

我英文不太好,不够看英文网站.但也省了不少心,特别是有点悲观的人.看了更是闹心.能力不够常为自己三餐张罗.我们这城市有不少老外,见了什么都大惊小怪,习惯常竖大拇指.这动作说实话特厌恶.他们这招牌动作是什么时候流传下来的,说不定是他们的祖父……但凡是都得看势。现在这些个西方老外是得机会了,在中国蹭吃蹭喝蹭女人的。哈哈。我是看不惯有些老外，更看不起那些贴上老外就自以为了不起的女人。说实在的人活着都是为自己，和自己有血缘关系的人，和自己有缘份的人，和自己有种族关系的人，和自己有一样肤色的人……种种关系利益，错综复杂，结成团，在这和平时期不要太丢我们团队人的脸才是……还是希望我们国家蒸蒸日上吧。

我觉得自己应该有一些发言权，因为我是个海龟，对老外和媚外的心态了解一些。

其实有一些中国女孩也对我有兴趣，当然不能排除有其他想法的，有一些觉得老外更刺激些，更多的觉得和华人在一起比较能沟通能生活在一起。那些有其他想法的，不外乎出国什么的。我的女朋友就曾经受到过排挤，因为她的朋友们认为她对我有什么目的。其实，她是个非常单纯的女孩，只是我在美国住过，对她而言比较新鲜有趣而已。就像北京的男人，对于有些女人有吸引力，而上海的男人可能也有一波北方女人喜欢。这些全部因人而异。

美国的白人女孩有些喜欢和黑人睡觉。这让白种男人受不了。但是那些女人说就是喜欢黑人，各位知道为什么了？我觉得好像白人出来跳的都是些失败者，大部分人只是不屑而异。这就足够了。

当然最低下的是个别黑人到处宣扬自己睡了个白人，这样的行为最为人不齿。这个英国人就是这一类人渣。不过放心，他们丢的只是自己的脸。这样的人足够让100个中国男人鄙视英国。他们自己丢自己的脸，这是英国再如何PR都无法弥补的。

我希望哪一位兄弟能上去表示鄙视英国，和英国人的下贱作风。

最后，我表示同情那些女性受害者。这样的历史让人无法接受。我有个朋友把他的女朋友甩了，因为发现她曾跟过老外，我朋友觉得很脏，再也看不起她了。我觉得这倒不仅是肉体，更多是人格上的。就是嫌疑即使无法证明那么嫌疑永远无法消除。

谁会去找一个跟过老外的女人？我不能说我绝对不会，只是会奇怪：中国男人那么多，为什么非找老外呢？ 有时候说不清楚地嫌疑才是最可怕的。

Now here’s another lunatic. Here’s a mouth-frother, here’s a bigot, here’s a stiff-necked buffoon who, in one ranting article, shows all that is wrong, footling and absurd about modern China.

This man is a professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. A professor! In this is shown so much that is wrong about today’s China. A country’s educational system should be home the best and brightest, to those who can think, weigh, balance, judge. And instead what does poor China get? Knee-jerk nationalists like this, myopic, thoughtless, a crass dolt who thinks like a sheep, rages like a hyena, and is impotent like a mule. Ah, Zhang, proud Zhang, dressed in a little brief authority, like an angry ape.

这个人是上海社会科学院的一个教授 - 一个教授！这篇文章是表现了如此多的当代中国的缪误。一个国家的教育体制应当包容那些最好的，最聪明的，那些能思考，衡量，平衡和判断的人。而相反中国得到了什么？像这样的无意识的民族主义者，近视而没有思想，像绵羊一样思考，像鬣狗一样暴怒的粗鲁的笨蛋，同时又像骡子一样的无能。啊！张！骄傲的张！只要得到一丁点儿权力就会像一只愤怒的猿猴 （译者注：此举典出莎士比亚，原文是：Man,proud man,drest in a little brief authority, plays such fantastic tricks before high heaven as makes the angel weep。一看就知Chinabounder不是个没上过学的）。

And – astonishment piles on astonishment – he is a professor of psychology! A man who should have some insight into the shades and ways of thought, the grades and colors of morality, comes out instead with such an article! Every word of it in a nail in the coffin of his credibility.

而且 - 震惊加震惊 - 他是个心理学教授！一个应该能够有真知灼见和思维方法，有层次，有道德色彩的人，居然写出这种文章！他的每一个字都是一颗钉子，牢牢订在他信用的棺材上。

Yet this is what passes for the educated in China. This is the caliber of person China has in its most prestigious institutes. What hope can there be for China when people like this educate its young? How can the country ever take its rightful place among the leaders of the world when this is the standard of its thinkers?

而这就是中国受过教育的人所接受的东西。这就是中国在他最著名的学府里的精英人士。如果这样的人在教育年轻人，中国还有什么希望？如果这就是该国思想者的标准，那中国如何能够在世界领袖中找到自己的正确位置？

I hold my head in my hands as I read his article. I had hoped China was moving beyond such folly; but as I read and re-read what he writes I see how strong the path to failure is, how compelling. If China cannot get past its Zhang Jiehais, what hope?

在读这篇文章的时候，我以手抱头。我曾希望中国能够超越这种愚蠢，但当我一读再读他的文字，我看到了通向失败的道路是多么强大，多么的不可抗拒。如果中国不能超越张结海之流，还有什么希望？

Ah, the pomposity of his tone, the bluster, the arrogance. Yet this is a common thing in China, the group mind, the `all Chinese compatriots’ stance, the suggestion that to be foreign is to be inferior. And then too the safety in numbers stance, the righteous indignation of the crowd. Zhang Jiehai (and he is not alone in this stance) can only see the world in one way; he expects everyone to see like him, think like him. He cannot understand that others might have differing views, cannot see anything but black and white.

This also is another common knee-jerk phrase that most expats in China will know well. China for the Chinese. We are one. We are us. You are you. You are here only as long as it pleases us.

这也是多数在中国的外籍人很熟悉的毫无意义的词汇！中国是中国人的。我们是一体的。我们是我们，你们是你们。你能来到这儿，就得让我们高兴。

This is mere variation on the chime most expats will know well, the by-rote patter they hear when they have any complaint about the country -- ‘If you don’t like China, go home!’

Which is perfectly true. I did say that. I am not proud of it, but nor will I lie about it. And I hardly think it is a rare attitude. I am sure many guys – and women too – have slept with a person they care nothing much for merely for the pleasure.

While in general Zhang Jiehai reports what I said accurately, I must take issue with his claim that I wrote Chinese men are ‘incredibly ugly.’ It is possible that he merely misunderstood me – for sure he is no thinker, no reader – but I never said anything remotely similar to this.

Now while this is true, and commendable, it has little relevance here. As I made explicitly clear in my blog, the justified target of anger is those who were guilty of crimes. Such people are the target of the Simon Wiesenthal center, and rightly so. But in China today, Japanese people in general are hated, merely for being Japanese. In any case, China’s own government suspended action against a large number of Japanese war criminals in the interests of fostering good relations between the two countries.

Man, I am getting to sound as absurd as Zhang Jiehai himself. There is so much lunacy in his article that merely by replying to it I am tainted with his sickness myself. For this particular gem of nonsense I will merely point out what I said before – that Japan has apologized. And I will also ask, can one apologize for a crime one has not committed? Today’s Japanese government, after all, murdered no one. But if one can apologize for the crimes of one’s predecessors, when will the CPC apologize for the 30 to 50 million deaths it caused?

I am willing to listen to the person who tells me Xinjiang is part of China. Zhang Jiehai is not willing even to countenance the opposite argument. What kind of academic will not even accept an argument that opposes his own? Well, a shit kind of academic, that’s what.

I have talked to several Muslim students from Xinjiang. They most certainly do not feel Xinjiang should be part of China. And as for Taiwan... It simply is a separate country, and there’s no possible way to deny it. Now whether it should be separate or should remain separate is a different argument. But now, today, it is separate. The Taiwanese choose their own leaders; they have their own laws, language, currency, passport. Beijing has zero direct power over Taiwan; and therefore while all sides may preserve the `one country two systems’ fiction, the fact of the matter is that Taiwan is separate. One needs look no further than the international attitude to a Taiwanese passport and a Chinese passport for the truth of that.

It is the job of an academic to try to see things as they are, not as they are wished to be. Zhang Jiehai falls at this elementary hurdle. He is not even on the lowest rung of the path to true intelligence.

This is perhaps the most astonishing comment of all. This man went to a location I claimed to have been to see if it existed. He sees some blog on the net and gets so righteous indignant about it that he turns himself into Sherlock Holmes. He did this; he went to the Tianping Hotel to ask them about their rooms. What a bumbling, impotent buffoon! And this is the caliber of China’s academics. This is what they worry themselves about? I am just one guy, of no especial importance, not much more or less than many expats and certainly no different to a goodly number of local men, who cheat and cog and play just as much as I do.

I am just aghast at this. Truly, I fear for China. Not just because of the utter paucity of thinking, life, truth and honesty that typifies the Zhang Jiehais of today’s China, nor just that if he is any representative of the Academy of Sciences then China is doomed, but also because in calling for a witch-hunt he calls for ugliness and hatred, he calls for fascism, he calls for ignorance.
