The Prime Minister is nearing the end of his first full day in Beijing during which he saw team GB add to their medal tally.
The PM met competitors from the women’s modern pentathlon team shortly before Heather Fell claimed silver, and later watched Tim Brabants take gold in the men’s K1 1000m canoeing.
Mr Brown also held separate meetings with Chinese President Hu Jintao, at the Great Hall of the People, and Premier Wen Jiabao. The PM promised that the UK would “build on the success” of the Beijing Games as it prepares for London 2012.
At 16:00 BST Britain was ranked third in the medals table with 18 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals.
