中译名为罗伯特·普特南（1941——），美国政治学家，哈佛大学Malkin Professor of Public Policy ，美国科学学院、哲学学会、艺术与科学学院成员，上届政治学协会（APSA）主席。2006年获得政治科学界Skytte奖。现在主要研究：宗教在美国的角色变化；移民和种族多元化背景下实现公民整合的策略；工作经历对于家庭和社区生活的影响；美国青少年群体的阶层分化。普特南著作等身，其作品被翻译成20多种语言文字，最有影响的作品为《使民主运作起来》、《独自打保龄球》。
