Laos-Vietnam Friendship Year 2012 marked

      (KPL) A national rally to celebrate the "Laos-Vietnam Friendship Year
      2012", the 50th anniversary of two countries diplomatic ties and the 35th
      anniversary of the Signing Amity and Cooperation Treaty between Laos and
      Vietnam was officially held at National Culture Hall, Vientiane Capital
      yesterday.
      The function was attended by Party and Government leaders and leading
      high-ranking officials between Laos and Vietnamese.
      Lao delegation was led by Party General Secretary and President Choummaly
      Sayasone while Vietnamese delegation was accompanied by Politburo Member
      of Vietnamese Communist Party, Permanent member of Party Central Committee
      Secretariat, Mr. Le Hong Anh.
      President Choummaly said that " Laos and Vietnam joint cooperation to
      fight for national independence and unity in a prolonged revolutionary
      movement of national independence. Two fraternal nations between Laos and
      Vietnam have helped, loved and trusted each other".
      The President Choummaly has reaffirmed the special relationship between
      two nations have been grown by new fundamental, based on the relations
      between two governments with the fully existing independence and
      sovereignty.
      The most remarkably and outstanding event was the Signing Amity and
      Cooperation Treaty between Laos and Vietnam in Vientiane on 18 July 1977,
      which today falls the 35th anniversary of signing, President Choummaly
      recalled.
      He further stated that the Signing Amity and Cooperation Treaty is the
      fundamental for the existing enhancement of great friendship, joining
      fighting solidarity and fine traditional special solidarity they are a
      basic for the existing enhancement of comprehensive cooperation between
      two Parties and two Governments and people of two nations in new era.
      Mr. Choummaly reaffirmed the friendly solidarity and special relations
      between Laos and Vietnam will be existed forever like the flow of Mekong
      River that never dry and the strongest mountains that never slide.
      This year 2012 is a remarkable year to enhance the existing comprehensive
      cooperation between two Parties, Governments and people to be fruitfully.
      The function was also attended by Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong and
      President of National Assembly Mrs. Pany Yathortou.

            (KPL) The 9 th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party is
            held this morning in Vientiane with the participation of 576
            delegates representing 191,700 Party members across the country.
