The Center for America Studies (CAS) under the School of Political Science and International Relations at Tongji University is a think tank focusing on America Studies and an institution to promote academic exchanges with equivalent institutions in the United States. There are six part-time faculty members in the center, with Professor Xia Liping as Director of the Center, and Associate Professor Wang Chuanxing as Vice Director of the Center.
The Center is dedicated to making an intensive and unique study of the United States and China-U.S. relations, advancing academic exchanges among scholars as well as dialogues among students in the two countries, coordinating the academic activities regarding the United States and China-U.S. relations at Tongji University. The research fields of CAS include U.S. national security strategy, U.S. outer space strategy, strategic cultures of China and the United States, U.S. economy and politics, ethics and U.S. diplomacy, climate change and China-U.S. relations, China-U.S. environment and energy policies, U.S. science and technology innovation institutions, U.S. ocean management institutions, U.S. polar region policy, U.S. domestic politics and China-U.S. relations.
