吴中东：从同学们考后的反馈情况看，这确实是今年的一个普遍现象问题。读英语专业的同学大都认为自己基础不错，但考过来却发现，最薄弱的还是基础英语。北交今年的试卷比去年的要难，特别是词汇和语法；文学部分相对容易；翻译汉译英适中，英译汉较难；语言学比去年简单，但加了一些语用学题目，考了几个语用原则；作文偏难，题目是Everyone was born to be unique，出题者水平很高，看似容易，其实要想把它写清楚、说透很难。
提供部分翻译供参考：“历史的道路不全是平坦的，有时走到艰难险阻的境界，这是全靠雄健的精神才能够从过去的！”可以译成“The road of history is not a smooth highway. There are on it difficult and dangerous sections, across which only with heroic spirit can we expect to get.”
宫玉波：北外是我国最权威的外语院校，也是英专学生最向往的学术殿堂，当然，对英语专业研究生的入学考核也是最严格的。但是从命题来讲，北外的出题思路一直很稳。报考此类院校，需要具备坚实的理论基础和扎实的基本功。因此，同学们在复习仅仅看一些指定的参考书是远远不够的，还要广泛涉猎相关的知识内容，从广度、深度上下功夫。这就要求同学们在读书时讲求技巧，注意重点、难点，挖掘考点，有能力把厚书读薄，必要时可以上上辅导班，只有这样才能事半功倍，才能有望胜出。考研本身就需要一种挑战自我的勇气，你已经具备了，只要坚持准备充分定能成功！Greatness can be prepared!
Born into this world, everyone is endowed with some things. Among these are potential abilities to acquire knowledge and improve wisdom and make success. Just as a famous proverb goes, “Everyone was born to be unique.” Indeed, we naturally possess certain faculties and uniquenesses. And it is up to us to bring them into full play and do justice to what our creator has made us for. Therefore, the saying passes us a clear message: we should be self-confident all the time, no matter what happens to us, and where we are.
A case in point is Libai, who had talents but no opportunity to apply them, was frustrated by love, lacking in money, losing friends and jobs. However, he was still bold and optimistic, until he became a great poet in history of China, leaving behind many classical poems, encouraging and leading the descendants to make for successes.
However, we, more often than not, hear some people complaining, “They are always the wrong people in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Still some even lost courage in life and committed a suicide by dropping down from the top of the building. All those who fear the setbacks and tribulations can never be faced with or conquer themselves.
We should hold on and never abandon, because everyone was born with his own superiority. Taking advantage of our own talents and giving them chance to develop, retaining optimistic attitude and high morale, we can realize our value and be unique and useful for the whole life.
宫玉波：从学生们反馈，我们了解到，Essay questions涉及到美国超验主义文学，英国民谣和狄更斯。由此可见，同学们要全方位了解英美文学各大阶段的主要文学流派和代表性作家。文学选读片断，今年除了英国的哈姆雷特(Hamlet)的独白，(T.S Eliot)艾略特的Love Song of Alfred Prufrok, Thomas Gray “The Elegy Written in he Country Churchyard”等，主要考的事是参考书里的重要作家的作品内容，所以从今年出题情况看，不仅仅要掌握其中的某些精华，还要全方位的去读。比如以前主要考核哈姆雷特选读的第一部分，但今年考得是最后一段。对文学作品要全方位阅读，这样就可以以不变应万变。
