项目简介
中国青年发展项目(China Young Development Program )从2007年至今已经举办了6次。这一项目的代表团员会在每学期从中国大陆,香港以及台湾地区的顶尖高校中选出。前几届项目在参与者中都有着良好的反响。该项目第9次课程将于2009年8月举行,主题内容为“新闻及传媒”。面对当前严峻的经济形势和就业形势,我们一直努力帮助中国的莘莘学子定位未来的发展道路。勤于思考、敢于创新和拥有知识的人总是面对更多机会。
此次项目——Advanced Journalism and Media Management Seminar (AJMMS)将主题定位于新闻及传媒领域,针对新闻,传媒,影视,外语,国际关系等专业的同学精心设计,为想要了解国外最为先进的传媒知识和体验国外文化的同学提供了一个良好的平台,为将来自身的职业发展或者出国留学打下基础。
参与者将于哥伦比亚大学进行为期近两周的交流学习,并且飞往加州访问斯坦福大学、考察美国著名的传媒企业以及参观好莱坞。(次项目并非由哥伦比亚大学校方主办)多数授课教师为在哥伦比亚大学传媒领域的著名教授以及该领域的知名人士,项目还会组织知名传媒公司的实地考察。项目至今我们已推荐学员到Bloomberg,United Nation等机构参观,并有少数优秀学员获得实习机会。
上课之余,学员还享受了世界大都会——纽约的风光,品味了百老汇的经典歌剧,欣赏了麦迪逊花园广场精彩的NBA篮球比赛,聆听了Greenwich Village的爵士音乐,品尝了来自上百个国家的美食。
09年8月的中国青年发展项目(CCYDP)将于2009年8月10日到8月24日之间进行。通过这个项目,参与者将会加深他们关于新闻传媒领域的知识,提升未来的职业技巧。所有的参与者都将得到Asia-Pacific Development Society颁发的“高级新闻与传媒课程认证书”。
我们采取先申请先考虑的原则筛选申请者并授予奖学金,这意味着较早申请的同学会有优先权。课程申请截止日期是09年5月31日而奖学金的申请截止日期是09年5月11日。
鉴于往年招生过程中出现的情况。请所有申请者警惕仿冒组办方的诈骗者。近期我们发现北京地区出现一个剽窃本项目招生材料和申请表的伪劣项目,甚至项目名称也尽可能与Columbia-China Young Development Program接近以欺诈同学,极大地损害了学生的利益。所以请各位同学仔细鉴别,以免上当受骗。请只与CCYDP项目指定的中国区负责人或者美方负责人(fg2183@columbia.edu or fangping@pku.edu.cn) 联系。项目负责人不会随便给申请者进行电话联系。我们一般会与申请者通过电子邮件确定电话面谈时间,请核对网上公布的项目负责人电子邮件和电话。对于来历不明的电子邮件或者电话请申请者核实后再做出回应。尤其不要给不明身份的人汇款。

Columbia-China Young Development Program
The Columbia-China Young Development Program (CCYDP) has been held for seven times since 2007. The delegates are selected from top universities and organizations across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan in each session. With the positive feedbacks from the previous participants, the eighth seminar will be held in August, 2009. This section is called Advanced Journalism and Media Management Seminar, which targets highly qualified Chinese students majoring in News, Media, Movie, Foreign Language, International Relation, etc.
The participants will study at Columbia University for 10 days and fly to California for 4 days’ visit, including visiting Stanford University, UCLA and Hollywood. This program is not provided by Columbia University. Most speakers are faculty of Columbia University, and some other lecturers are from media industry. Also the program sets up several fieldtrips around New York. The participants will be exposed to the real business world by visiting the media companies in NYC. Additionally, the participants will enjoy the days and nights in NYC, the Broadway Show, the NBA games at Madison Square Garden, the jazz music at Greenwich Village, the delicious food from hundreds of countries.
The Columbia-China Young Development Program (CCYDP) in August 2009 will be provided from August 10th to August 24th, 2009. Through the program, the participants will deepen their understanding in global media industry and enhance their skills for future career. All participants will be granted a Certificate of Advanced News and Media Seminar by Asia-Pacific Development Society.
We will admit the students on a rolling admission process that means more priority will be given to the early qualified applicants. The deadline of application is May 31st, 2009 and the deadline of financial aid is May 11th 2009.
1. Cost
(1) Tuition: $2,050
(2) Fee: $100 (including teaching materials, bus fares, etc.)
There is no shuttle bus between hostel and campus. The participants can walk or take public transportations.
(3) California Fee: $900 (including flight from NY to CA, Three nights’ hotel, and fieldtrip in CA)
(4) Estimated hostel rent (New York):
$25-$30 per night per person for four-bed dorm (the participants can live with their friends or relatives in NYC or search living place by themselves on www.cucssa.org and www.hostelworld.com)
(5) Estimated flight price (round-trip):
The participants are responsible for airline tickets by themselves. You can search the websites of airline companies or travel agencies
i. Continental Airline (www.continental.com, no stop): Newark, NJ (Newark International Airport) to Beijing, $800-1,200
ii. Delta Airline (www.delta.com, one stop in Atlanta): JFK, NY (John F. Kennedy International Airport) to Shanghai, $800-1,100
iii. Air China (no stop): JFK, NY (John F. Kennedy International Airport) to Beijing, $900-$1,100
iv. China Eastern Airline (no stop): JFK, NY (John F. Kennedy International Airport) to Shanghai, $900-$1,100
v. Hainan Airline (one stop in Seattle): JFK, NY (John F. Kennedy International Airport) to Beijing, $900-$1,100

(6) Estimated meal cost: $120
The free breakfast will be provided during the program. The participants will take care of lunch and dinner by themselves. The cost per meal in NYC ranges from $3.50 or more.
(7) Estimated International Travel Insurance: $50
2. Financial Aid
We will grant first-round financial aid based on the academic and extracurricular performances of the applicants. That first-round financial aid will be at most 50 percent of the tuition (not including the fee). The second-round financial aid will be offered based on the students’ performances during the program. The second-round financial aid will be at most 10 percent of the tuition (not including the fee).
